Facebook Character Limit

Facebook character limits

I never knew the exact number of characters that Facebook was limited to, until today! I saw an article today that listed the Facebook character limit at 5,000. Previously, I thought the character limit was 16,000, but today I decided to manually determine what the character limit was. I typed in the letter “h” 5,000 times, then tried it again at 10,000 and  kept going until I exceeded 63,206.

Once I hit the limit, a message came up and warned me, but it also gave me the option of editing my 88,000 characters into a note instead. According ZDnet, Facebook changed it’s character limit in September 2011 from 5,000.
